'Dome' Supporters Get Legal Help To Stop Demolition

The "Save the Pleasant Hill Dome" group raised money to pay for a lawyer, who has requested that the city rescind the demolition permit until an appeal decision has been made.

The "Dome" theater may have already played its last movie, but local supporters are still fighting to save the 46-year-old building from destruction.

Fundraising efforts have paid off by allowing the "Save the Pleasant Hill Dome" (SPHD) group to pay for legal help. San Francisco Attorney Mark R. Wolfe has taken up the case and sent a letter to the City of Pleasant Hill requesting that the demolition permit issued April 1 be revoked.

Wolfe cites the California Public Resources Code section 18.130.020(C), stating that "any decision of the Planning Commission that has been appealed to the City Council 'does not become effective until the appeal or review is resolved." Wolfe adds that, "Therefore, no aspect of the Planning Commission’s approval has any legal effect until the City Council renders its final decision on the appeal."
