Could Moraga Use A New Park?

Conceptual plans for 26-unit subdivision off Camino Ricardo include a 2.53-acre park among the streams and fields and orchards.

Moraga could get a small, new park with a chance to stretch one's legs alongside streams and fields and orchards adjacent to commercial development.

The plans from SummerHill Homes of San Ramon for a 26-unit subdivision off Camino Ricardo include a conceptual plan for 2.53-acre park. The development site is 14.26 acres, according to a Feb. 19 report by town Planning Director Shawna Brekke-Read and Parks and Recreation Director Jay Ingram for the Park and Rec Commission. (The report is attached to this article.)

The plans envision a paved pedestrian trail with footbridges across Laguna Creek and Corliss Tributary. To the east of this site is an undeveloped, 4.49-acre, town-owned parcel that is across Moraga Road from the Moraga Commons Park in the area where a new parking lot is being built. To the southeast of the site is Safeway and the Moraga Shopping Center.
