A woman was killed early Sunday on northbound Interstate Highway 880 after her vehicle collided with a car and became wedged between a concrete rail and a wall near High Street in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sharon Salcido, 58, of the Sacramento area, was identified today by the Alameda County Coroner's office as the victim of the crash that occurred shortly before at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Salcido was headed north on Highway 880 when her 2006 Jeep Liberty crashed into a 2002 Ford Explorer, the highway patrol said.
The accident made the Jeep come to rest in between a temporary concrete K-rail and a two-foot concrete wall on the right shoulder of the northbound lane of the highway.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Highland Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The highway patrol closed northbound lanes three and four of the highway for about 90 minutes during the investigation and recovery of the victim's vehicle.
