Whoa, Nellie! Misjudged Turn Goes Wrong In Lafayette

Driver behind the wheel of loaner Lexus takes the turn onto Deer Hill Road just a little bit too wide - and runs into a house.

A driver behind the wheel of a loaner Lexus SUV apparently misjudged her turn from the Highway 24 off-ramp onto Deer Hill Road in central Lafayette on Wednesday and crashed into a house.

The accident occurred at 11:15 a.m. when the unidentified driver made her turn and drove the Lexus RX 350 into 1061 Laurel Drive - occupied by the Daman family, who have lived at that address without incident for 35 years.

"I thought it was an earthquake," Ruth Daman told Lamorinda Patch. "The impact was so sharp and so loud." Neither Ruth nor Walter Daman or their daughter, Annemarie - also present at the home at the time of the crash - were injured. The car was a "courtesy vehicle" on loan from Lexus of Concord.
