Two Crashes, One Busy Moraga Intersection

Halloween morning saw two collisions and one DUI arrest at Moraga Way and School Street.

On Halloween morning, Moraga police investigated a couple of consecutive accidents at the intersection of Moraga Way and School Street, not far from Safeway.

There was no indication in the police reports if the second accident, which involved a rear-end collision, had something to do with rubber-necking at the scene of the first accident.

In the first accident, at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, officers observed a silver vehicle swerving on Moraga Way after receiving reports of such a vehicle speeding from Orinda to Moraga on Moraga Way. The silver vehicle apparently struck a parked vehicle at the corner of School Street in a non-injury accident. The driver of the silver vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Moraga police reported.

The next accident involved a rear-end collision and three vehicles at 10:32 a.m. at Moraga Way and School Street, police reported. The damage was minor. One vehicle was towed and one driver was placed under arrest, although the police report did not state the charge.

A clot of people, some in gaudy Halloween costumes, gathered at the busy accident intersection to observe, a Patch reader reported.
