Traffic Restored On Moraga Way After Power Line Work

Updated. Traffic was blocked on Moraga Way between Ivy Drive and El Camino Moraga, Orinda, after falling tree branches got tangled with a power pole.

Updated, 5:10 p.m. Monday. Traffic is flowing again on Moraga Way Monday afternoon.

PG&E crews on Monday morning were working on power lines and blocking traffic on Moraga Way between Ivy Drive North and El Camino Moraga.

Falling tree branches got tangled with a utility pole along Moraga Way in the area of Altamount Drive Sunday, according to an alert from the city of Orinda. Mid-morning on Monday, the city reported: "Southbound is open, but expect delays." Northbound was blocked with Ivy Drive being used as a detour.

Some residents in the area were without power starting Sunday night. Traffic was diverted onto Ivy Drive to get around the break in Moraga Way. There was sporadic slow traffic on Ivy Drive, particularly for the morning student dropoff at Orinda Intermediate School.

PG&E on its outage map listed 37 customers without power Monday morning because of a broken pole. The outage started at 10 p.m. Sunday. PG&E estimated the time of power restoration at 11:45 a.m. Monday.
