Firefighters responded to calls of a home on fire in the 3300 block of Victoria Lane in Lafayette Friday and arrived to find the single story structure ablaze and sending up a column of smoke visible from Highway 24.
The first call for assistance was reported at 7:30 p.m. Numerous pieces of apparatus from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District are on the scene.
First responders found heavy smoke and fire gushing from the garage and under the eaves of the home, a county fire spokesman reported, and most of the fire appeared confined to the garage.
No cause was given and the incident remains under investigation.
