Small Grass Fire Under Control Behind Rossmoor

A number of Patch readers dialed in this afternoon after helicopters were spotted in the hills behind Rossmoor.

Dispatchers for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District confirm that a small grass fire burning behind Rossmoor and visible to Lafayette residents is under control and crews are mopping up.

A district dispatcher said the one alarm blaze was reported at 2 p.m. and declared under control - after water drops from Cal Fire and East Bay Regional Park District helicopters - at 3:38 p.m.

A power surge near some PG&E equipment in the area is the suspected cause. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
