A body discovered near a hiking trail in Canyon on Monday has been initially ruled a suicide, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
Moraga police responded to a request for assistance from a sheriff's deputy on Monday about 1 p.m. after receiving a report about a possible body on a hiking trail near Ridge Crest Road.
Police and firefighters responded and discovered the body, which has not been identified. According to Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee, the deceased committed suicide. There is no further information about the incident.
