Update: Missing Hikers Found In Briones Regional Park

East Bay Regional Park District officers were searching the Bear Creek area for the two men in their 20s

Two young hikers who were reported missing in Briones Regional Park early Friday evening turned up safe and sound.

The men, both in their 20s, made it back to their car at the Bear Creek Road entrance to the park about 8:30 p.m.

East Bay Regional Park District police officers began searching for the two hikers after their parents found their car at 6:30 p.m. and flagged down park police officers, according to EBRPD police dispatcher/supervisor Janet Severin.

Severin did not have the names or home cities of the missing hikers.

The California Highway Patrol searched the regional park with a helicopter early Friday evening but couldn't locate the hikers.

Three park police officers also walked through the park in the dark looking for the hikers.
