Reservoir Reopens After Monday Morning Power Line Mishap

Patch readers have been writing all morning about a road closure near the Lafayette Reservoir. Turns out, a power pole snapped and came down.

As happens so often around Lamorinda Patch these days our "electronic switchboard" lit up Monday morning with emails and notes from folks wondering why traffic had been diverted around the Lafayette Reservoir.

Thanks to , we can report that a power pole snapped and fell across Mount Diablo Boulevard directly in front of the reservoir entrance. Emergency crews are there to remove the debris and restore power. Access points were closed to traffic and pedestrians until 3 p.m.

Our thanks to Mr. Falk and to our readers for letting us know about this little traffic setback. Casual observers say the pole appears to have toppled due to dry rot and was not struck by a car.
