4pm – Theft from auto: An unscrupulous individual managed to unlock a 1994 blue Honda that was parked in the carport of a home on the 2000 block of Ascot Dr. and steal a large amount of nursing equipment. The thief is setting himself up for particularly bad karma in this instance.
11pm – Car theft: A resident of Ashford Place reported that his green 1994 Acura was parked and locked in front of his home, and the next morning it was gone.
11:30pm – Theft from auto: Another locked car on Ascot Dr. was broken into, and about $225 worth of items were taken.

1am – Burglary: A garage on the 800 block of Villa Lane was broken into, the car pushed outside, and a variety of tools and bicycles were stolen, for a total of $3,400 loss. Two bikes were later found on Moraga Way.
Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013
4:30am – A brown Mercedes that had been reported stolen in Orinda the day before was found by police on Canyon Way. The owner could not be reached and the car, apparently unharmed, was towed away.
4:36pm – While out on a suspicious person call, a police officer spotted an older model BMW parked at the curb of Blumert Place and Natalie Dr. When the driver rolled down his fogged window at the request of the officer, plumes of marijuana smoke poured forth, and the two 17-year-old occupants of the car had to face the wrath of their parents, who were summoned to the scene.
7:32pm – More pot-smoking drivers, as police spotted a Toyota truck driving on the wrong side of the road down Camino Pablo near Tharp Dr. Upon inspection, the 18-year-old driver was cited for being in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and the 17-year-old passenger was placed in a juvenile diversion program, and his parents contacted.
