Police Log: A Scourge of Unpermitted Solicitors Descends On Moraga

The following information was taken from the Moraga Police Log and rewritten by Lamorinda Patch.

Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013

12:29pm – Officers responded to many reports of two women, both with red hair, who were going door to door soliciting. The women did not have permits, and were advised that the city had an ordinance requiring permits for solicitation.

1:41pm – A man and woman were reported going door to door, soliciting on Natalie Dr. One of the women had an outstanding warrant from San Louis Obisbo. She was taken to the police department for booking, and released on her promise to appear in court.

2:05pm – An officer was contacted by a resident of Camino Peral who said a strange woman claiming to be her neighbor came to the door and wanted to talk about softball. The woman tried to enter the home. The officer found the woman and discovered she was part of a group of people soliciting magazines in the area. She was advised to tell her supervisor about the city’s solicitation ordinance.

10:00pm – A 1996 Honda Accord was reported stolen from a home on Ascot Dr.

3:00pm – A man reported that someone broke into his car at Miramonte High School and stole an $8,000 piece of surveying equipment.
