A very close call on Ascot Dr., as a resident there sent $2,950 via Western Union to the Philippines after receiving an email from a friend requesting help. Realizing it was a scam, the man immediately cancelled the wire transfer.

A southern California resident called police to say someone called and tried to solicit money for a Moraga police fund, of which none exists, by the way.

A woman on Corte Yolanda reported hearing a noise in her garage, the door of which she had left open all night. When she investigated, she found a Hispanic man around 5’4” wearing a tan jacket, who ran away when she closed the interior garage door. Police found no one in the area matching the description.

A resident of Ross Drive called to report that someone had removed the dog door off the side garage door and entered the garage. Police responded and found the side garage door locked but open. Nothing had been taken from the garage.

Monday, July 15, 2013

A home of Brookline was burgled and a Mini Cooper was stolen from the garage. The home was also ransacked. A neighbor reported seeing an African American man near the home before the burglary.
