Police Action In Orinda

Orinda police, backed by officers from neighboring agencies, responded to a home on Overhill Road Tuesday.

Numerous police officers were called to a home on Overhill Road Tuesday after a man attempted to enter an occupied residence at around 3:30 p.m.

Neighbors said the unidentified man attempted to enter a home in the area of Overhill and Catherine Court, fleeing when officers were called and touching off a widespread search by officers. A canine team assisted in the search and at one time a police helicopter was called in, hovering overhead.

The would-be intruder, who fled the area and was last seen running in the direction of downtown Orinda, was later found and arrested, according to neighbors. The nature of the charges against him could not be determined.

Orinda police could not be reached for comment on the incident.
