UPDATE: 1 Lane of Moraga Road North of Sky Hy Closed Due to Car Crash

Motorist transported to John Muir.

UPDATED: Tuesday, May 6, 8:15 a.m.

One lane of a major road in Lafayette is closed because of a car crash early this morning, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a power pole and went down an embankment around 1:50 a.m. on Moraga Road north of Sky Hy Drive, Sgt. Howard Shiells said.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to John Muir Medical Center, Shiells said. Shiells did not know the extent of the driver's injuries.

The crash severed the power pole at its base and PG&E crews were at the scene to replace it this morning, Sheills said.

One lane of Moraga Road remained blocked in the area as of 7:15 a.m. and Sheills did not have an estimated time for when the lane would reopen.
