Pittsburg Man Drowns In Lafayette Reservoir

Ricardo Ojeda, 51, found dead of apparent drowning Wednesday, coroner reports; Ojeda had gone fishing at the reservoir Wednesday morning.

A man who had gone fishing at the Lafayette Reservoir on Wednesday morning was found dead in the water later that evening, East Bay Regional Park District police said.

Ricardo Ojeda, 51, of Pittsburg, went to the reservoir early Wednesday morning. When he didn't return home, a family member called police at about 5:25 p.m., police said. Police, East Bay Municipal Utility District rangers and Ojeda's family conducted a search at the reservoir and found his body in the water a short time later, police said.

The cause of death appears to be drowning, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office. The circumstances of the drowning remain under investigation, but police said no foul play is suspected.
