Patch Militia Captures Lamorinda Road Wreck

We're lucky to have some folks out there who are quick on the cell-phone-camera-trigger and send in pictures and video from time to time.

Our dedicated cadre of readers were out braving the rain and lightning, dodging rolling cars and skidding landscaping trucks, and taking pictures of things they spot on the road from time to time.

This portion of what turned out to be a 3-car accident was captured on the Highway 24 Orinda on-ramp Wednesday and just be thankful you weren't in the car.

We're thankful to the reader who sent in the snapshot.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District firefighters said two cars were actually eastbound on Highway 24 when they left the freeway and landed on the on-ramp, a third vehicle spinning out behind them and coming to rest on the highway's shoulder.

One person was taken to John Muir Hospital for treatment and two others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Chad Dyer, whose Orinda offices overlook the scene and whose staff heard the accident, said Wednesday that they heard the two cars, the one pictured and another completely upside down, as they came off the freeway.

"They both careened off highway 24 and fell into the on-ramp," Dyer said. "The driver of the car in this picture climbed out to the top, I hope the other driver was OK."
