News Photos: Man Rescued From Mangled SUV In Concord Thursday

A Patch editor was on the scene Thursday as firefighters pried a motorist from the wreckage of his SUV after a crash on Highway 242.

ConFire crews dipped into their bag of tricks and came up with a hydraulic spreader Thursday after a lone driver crashed his SUV on northbound Highway 242, trapping himself in the wreckage.

Firefighters freed the unidentified driver after the single-vehicle crash occurred at 9:45 a.m., securing the battered vehicle to a fire engine to keep it in place on the steep incline where it came to rest while they worked.

Patch Editor Adalto Nascimento was on the scene and took these pictures of the rescue effort, which briefly tied up traffic but appears to have ended well.
