Broken Leg In Moraga Way Accident

At 3:48 p.m. Tuesday, police reported traffic clear in both directions on Moraga Way, Orinda. An Orinda woman fell asleep at the wheel and drove into a tree, police said.

Moraga Way was clear again in both directions at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police alert.

After a one-car accident around 2:25 p.m. Tuesday at Moraga Way and Stein Way, Orinda, both lanes were closed, police said. The driver — a 60-year-old Orinda woman — apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree, sending her car into a dry creek bed, said Orinda Police Sgt. Neil Rafanan. She was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and treated for a broken leg, police said.

The driver was driving south on Moraga Way and drifted into the northbound lanes. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
