Moraga Road Reopens After Tuesday A.M. Crash Into Power Pole

Moraga Road in Lafayette has reopened hours after a car crashed into a pole and shut down part of the roadway, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a power pole and went down an embankment around 1:50 a.m. on Moraga Road north of Sky Hy Drive, Lafayette police Sgt. Howard Shiells said.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to John Muir Medical Center, Shiells said.

Shiells said he did not know the extent of the driver's injuries.

The crash severed the power pole at its base and PG&E crews were at the scene to replace it this morning, Sheills said.

The roadway was reopened by 3:15 p.m.
