Moraga Police Log: Neighbors Burglarized, Disappearing Wallet, Suspicous Credit Cards

Some of the incidents that kept Moraga police officers busy last week

Some of the items on the Moraga Police Department log from Nov. 20 to Nov. 24.

Wednesday, Nov. 20

Wandering cows: Police were notified at 9:28 a.m. that four cows were standing in the street near Crossbrook Drive and Greenfield Drive. The ranch owner was alerted and he arrived to wrangle up the cows and return them to grazing land.

Double burglary: Officers were notified on Wednesday afternoon that two homes near each other on Fernwood Drive had been burglarized. At the first house, the burglar entered through an unlocked rear door and stole an iPad and Apple laptop computer. At the second house, the burglar entered through an unlocked garage door and took two Apple Macbook Pro laptop computers.

Thursday, Nov. 21

Juvenile with marijuana: Officers went to the intersection of Claudia Court and Draeger Drive at 4:33 p.m. for a report of a suspicious person. They found a juvenile who was in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The subject was placed in the city's juvenile diversion program.

Missing wallet: A man called police at 8:53 p.m. to tell them he had lost his wallet a few hours earlier while pumping gas at the Chevron station on Moraga Way. The man said he remembered putting his wallet in his back pocket while pumping gas, but when he was done the wallet was missing.

Friday, Nov. 22

Mysterious branch: A woman called police at 9:37 p.m. to report two suspicious circumstances at her home on Miramonte Drive. She said her neighbor's potted plant had been moved to her doorway. Later, a branch from the common area was placed across her walkway. Police said they would patrol the area that evening.

Saturday, Nov. 23

Home vandalized: A resident on Augusta Drive called police on Saturday morning to tell them that their home had been vandalized. The caller said someone had put toilet paper in a tree in front of their house overnight. The vandals also egged two cars and wrote on them with a permanent marker. One of the cars also had a cracked windshield.

Suspicious Credit Cards: An employee of a drug store on Moraga Road called police at 7:19 p.m. to report a female customer had tried to purchase $800 in gift cards using three different credit cards. After one card was declined, the woman left the store, leaving a $400 gift card on the counter, and drove off in a white SUV.

Sunday, Nov. 24

Loud pool playing: Officers went to an apartment on Doral Drive at 11:44 p.m. for a report of a loud party. They found a half-dozen men playing pool inside a residence with the door open. The resident agreed to shut the door and keep the noise level down.
