Moraga Police Log: Teens Causing Trouble, Elder Abuse Arrest, Package Taken From Porch

Some of the incidents that kept Moraga police officers busy this past week

Some of the items listed in the Moraga Police Department logs from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30.

Friday, Dec. 27

Incorrigible Youth: 
Police were dispatched at 2 p.m. to a home on Wandel Drive for a report of an "incorrigible youth" who had hit his father and broken a door. Officers determined the teen was frustrated with his parents. They counseled the youth.

Saturday, Dec. 28

Juvenile alcohol possession: An officer noticed three teenagers behind the Rheem Center at 11:33 p.m. The officer said the three showed signs of alcohol consumption. There was also an open bottle of rum in their possession. The parents of the two juveniles under 18 were called. The 18-year-old was counseled and the owner of the Rheem Center was notified.

Elder abuse arrest: Officers were dispatched at 6:47 p.m. to a home on Rimer Drive for a report of elder abuse. Officers determined a 48-year-old man had pushed his 84-year-old father out of his rocking chair, causing the older man to hurt his head. The man also squeezed the arms of his 80-year-old mother. The younger man was arrested for elder abuse.

Sunday, Dec. 29

Evading a police officer: An officer said he tried to pull over a vehicle at 8:34 p.m. on Moraga Road. However, the motorist continued to drive to his home on Corliss Drive. The driver told police he thought if he parked in his driveway, his car wouldn't be towed. The driver was arrested on two outstanding warrants, evading a police officer and a probation violation.

Monday, Dec. 30

Home burglary: Police were notified at 9:30 a.m. that a home on St. Andrews Drive had been burglarized. Officers determined the burglars entered through an unlocked bedroom window and ransacked the house. They stole electronics, watches and jewelry.

Package stolen: Officers were informed at 11:57 a.m. that a package had been stolen from the porch of a home on Larch Avenue. The resident said his neighbor had found the emptied-out package in the middle of the road.
