Moraga Police Log: Loud Noises, Marijuana Bust, Suspicious Driver

Some of the incidents that kept Moraga police officers busy this past week

A few of the many items that appeared on the Moraga Police Department log from Sept. 25 to Sept. 30.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

Home graffiti: Police were called at 6 p.m. by a resident on Sandingham Street who reported vandals had spray painted graffiti on his house and fence. There are no suspects at this time.

Car in ditch: Police were notified at 8:39 p.m. that a car was in the ditch at St. Mary's Road and Stafford Drive. Officers found the vehicle there. The driver said he misjudged the turn, causing his car to go off the roadway. A tow truck was called to pull the car free.

Thursday, Sept. 26

Loud television: Officers were dispatched at 12:03 p.m. to a home on Constance Place where a silent alarm had been triggered and loud voices could be heard from inside. Officers found the home unoccupied and secure. They determined the loud voices were a television that had been left on.

Friday, Sept. 27

Loose goats: Officers were dispatched at 8:36 a.m. for a report of goats that were outside a fence along Rheem Boulevard. The animals' owner was contacted and the goats were returned back inside the fenced property.

Marijuana possession: Officers went to the parking lot at McCaulou's department store on Moraga Way at 9:20 a.m. after a report of a hit-and-run collision. A motorist there admitted causing the collision. Officers discovered the driver was in possession of drugs. The driver was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Saturday, Sept. 28

Suspicious driver: Residents on Tharp Drive called police at 6:42 p.m. to report a small silver SUV with a female driver and male passenger had driven slowly by a group of children riding bicycles. The van returned several minutes later with the male driving. He stopped near the children and appeared to be writing something down in a notebook. Police have made note of the report.

Sunday, Sept. 29

Loud jackhammer: Residents of Ross Drive called police at 1:58 p.m. to report a neighbor making loud noise with a jackhammer. Officers contacted the neighbor and advised him of town ordinances prohibiting excessive noise.

Monday, Sept. 30

Video game noise: Officers were dispatched at 10:54 p.m. to a home on Buckingham Drive after receiving reports of loud noises coming from the house. Officers determined the noise was caused by the residents inside playing video games. They were warned about causing excessive noise.
