Moraga PD: Was The Burglar a Radiohead?

Moraga police blotter from Dec. 16 to Dec. 24, includes an allegation of a burglar messing with someone's radio station on the car radio.

Dec. 16
Mountain bike stolen. Sometime between Dec. 16 and Dec. 21, a miscreant entered a garage on Crossbrook Drive and pedaled off with a 2011 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR mountain bike, valued at $1,200 to $1,400, Moraga police reported. The resident said the garage door was periodically left often.

Dec. 19
Joy ride ends in crash? A citizen near 1500 Canyon Road reported to Moraga police his 1997 white BMW stolen. He had last seen it at 6 p.m. Dec. 19. A records check indicated the BMW was reported to CHP crashed at Canyon and Pinehurst at 10:04 p.m. that night, and towed from the scene. The vehicle was located by CHP and the owner notified of the recovery.

Dec. 20
More counterfeit. The investigation continues into a woman used a bogus $100 American Express traveler's check to buy $38.93 worth of items at T.J. Maxx at the Rheem Center. She drove off in an unknown direction.

Dec. 21
Driver off-course. A non-injury collision involved a vehicle careening onto property in the 1000 block of Country Club Drive. The owner estimated the damage to his mailbox and landscaping at $4,000.

DUI arrest. At Country Club Drive and Canyon Road at 3:18 p.m., a 46-year-old man was too intoxicated to perform field sobriety tests. He was transported to a hospital where he submitted to a blood test, charged with DUI, and medically cleared by a doctor to be transported to the main detention facility in Martinez. The man was in Moraga caring for his elderly mother, who had recently fallen, police reported.

Uh … your car is in reverse. At Ascot Drive and Moraga Road at 5:15 p.m., a hit-and-run was reported for a minor non-injury collision. The reporting party said a brown sedan with Nevada plates stopped in front of him at the Ascot red light. When the light turned green to turn northbound on Moraga Road, the sedan backed into the reporting party. The reporting party assumed the driver would pull over to exchange insurance information but instead the Nevada motorist heads southbound on Moraga Road. Reporting party estimated $1,000 damage to the front of his vehicle.

Dec. 22
DUI on Moraga Way and Ivy Drive. At 11:55 p.m., officers stopped a 1998 white Subaru for an obstructed license plate. An officer smelled the odor of alcohol and transported the 57-year-old man from Oregon to the police station, where a breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent. He was arrested for DUI and released to a family member.

That's not my radio station! At 10:29 a.m. on Miramonte Drive, the report was: "Reporting party changed his mind regarding a report and just wanted to advise Moraga PD about a suspicious circumstance about someone possibly entering his vehicle and changing his radio station."
