Moraga PD: Is The Purple Leash a Clue?

Moraga police blotter from Dec. 12 to Dec. 19, including a lost dog leash at the same location as a toppled street sign.

Dec. 12
Gas siphon. Gas is getting cheaper but one thief still finds it worth siphoning. Seven gallons were sucked from a 1999 Dodge Caravan parked in a driveway on Donald Drive between Dec. 9 and Dec. 12.

Dec. 13
Check the rear-view mirror. There were no injuries in an accident where a homeowner backed out of a Joseph Place driveway and cracked into a service truck parked at the curb. Minor damage to the service truck.

Check the luggage. A resident of Lynch Court got back from long flight from Berlin to Newark to San Francisco, and her luggage did not catch up with her. When the luggage came three days later, she discovered a valuable watch was missing. The resident was planning to call a friend to get more information about the watch, police reported.

Dec. 16
Residential burglary. The burglar came through an unlocked door in the 400 block of Paseo Del Campo and stole miscellaneous jewelry and electronics.

Dec. 17
Is the purple leash a clue? Investigative leads were scant with the report that an unknown vehicle had knocked down a street sign at Campolindo Drive and Paseo Grande. However, in a development that may or may not be connected, a purple cloth dog leash was found at that corner. Officers took the leash into evidence.

Parcel burglars case Del Rio Way-Carter Drive neighborhood. A thief or thieves grabbed packages from multiple doorsteps, taking the contents and leaving behind empty boxes from elsewhere. Police are investigating.

Dec. 18
Dog left behind. A neighbor found a loose dog belonging to a Hazelwood Place residence. He found the residence to be unsecured with no one home. Officers investigated and found the home unoccupied. Officers were unable to locate a phone number to contact residents. They secured the home and left a business card inside.
