Nov. 15
Wallet returned, a little lighter. A Safeway customer left her wallet in a shopping cart in the parking lot. A customer found it and returned to the store staff. When the wallet owner looked inside, there was $311 missing. Police are investigating.
Nov. 16
Not quite DUI. At 12:39 a.m. on Woodford, officers stopped a silver Pontiac with no license plate light. They detected an odor of alcohol on the breath of the 25-year-old driver. The man vomited in the midst of a Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) field test, police said. He was taken to the police station and submitted to a chemical breath test, which produced a blood alcohol content of 0.03 percent, within the legal limit.
Nov. 17
Two drunk, too drunk. At 12:20 a.m. on Ascot Drive, officers contact two subjects making noise inside a vehicle, showing signs of intoxication. A PAS test detected a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent in one. Officers took the keys and informed the car owner, who was sitting in the passenger seat, that he could pick up the keys the following day at the police station.
Nov. 18
Confirmed. Officers confirmed the account of a 33-year-old cyclist coming from Orinda, who said a Toyota Sienna hit him on the bike as the Sienna turned into Moraga Shopping Center. An officer called the 78-year-old driver from Moraga and confirmed the account. The cyclist went to John Muir Medical Center for treatment for minor injuries, police said.
Nov. 21
Table envy. Four subjects were detained at St. Mary's College and accused of trying to steal two wooden tables from the campus. College security had observed the attempted theft.
Nov. 24
Taco Bell car v. pedestrian. A car in the Rheem Center parking lot made a left into Taco Bell and collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian was uninjured. The Toyota had minor damage to the hood.
Don't cut off the patrol car. At 9:47 p.m., a vehicle failed to yield while rounding the corner onto Moraga Road from Rheem Boulevard and cut off a Moraga officer southbound on Moraga Road. The siren went on, the stop was made. A PAS test showed 0.16 percent blood alcohol. The subject was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
Nov. 25
Rheem car v. pedestrian. At dusk, officers responded to a collision near the Dollar Tree store. A man was walking from the business area to the parking lot when he was struck by a car driven by a woman. The man, with moderate injuries, refused to be transported for treatment, police said. The elderly woman was given a lift home.
