Moraga PD: Brazen Thief Strikes At Church

Nov. 29

Injury accident. At 8:01 a.m., a two-vehicle accident at Moraga Road and Corliss Drive resulted in  a complaint of pain from one driver, who was transported to the hospital.

Dec. 1

DUI. At 1:53 a.m., officers stopped a Mercedes on Williams Drive at Haven Court for failing to use a turn signal for making a left hand turn. The driver, a 20-year-old, submitted to a Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) test, resulting in a blood alcohol content of 0.06 percent. He was cited for driving under the influence for a driver under age 21 with a BAC of 0.05 percent or more.

Dec. 1

Stolen jewelry. The investigation is ongoing on a report by an Alderbrook Place homeowner of jewelry valued at more than $10,000 stolen from a dresser in the master bedroom. The owner said there was no sign of forced entry.

Dec. 2

Plenty of horn. Officers contacted a reporting party complaining about a pickup truck with its horn sounding continuously parked at the curb on Donald Drive. Officers tried without luck to find a responsible owner. The truck was towed and stored.

Sinning thief. Two purses, unattended in the music room of a Moraga Valley Lane church, were stolen. Both purses contained wallets, cash and credit cards. One had a cell phone. Officers advised the victims to cancel credit cards. "There are no suspects or leads at this time," the report stated. "An area check for any discarded items was negative."
