MOFD Hones Firefighting Readiness In Canyon

Narrow roads, remote homes, lots of fuel and a country water supply can make fighting fires in Canyon a real challenge. MOFD is using July to train its firefighters how to fight any future fire.

Canyon residents live a little off the beaten path, nice for them but hell if you're trying to run a hose line from a tender truck to a home threatened by fire.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District firefighters are using the month of July to train in the area, familiarizing members with on-site firefighting infrastructure and how best to use their equipment in remote terrain.

MOFD firefighters are simulating emergency scenarios in the community utilizing the District’s 2,500-gallon water tender vehicle as well as the  community’s static water tank.

Training lasts through the month. MOFD's Training Division will be running similar training exercises in other parts of the Fire District to ensure that firefighters are prepared for any emergency in all types of terrain.
