Me and You and a Dog Named Blue

A string of "kick-in" residential robberies in Lamorinda has neighbors on edge and looking for protection. Sometimes, though, the match doesn't quite work out.

A has residents on edge and looking for protection of various kinds (more on that later), but sometimes the method they choose to protect themselves just doesn't quite fit in.

Take Blue, please. The Orinda family who acquired him to help protect their home found that he was everything they wanted in a dog - housebroken, sweet, loyal, cuddly, good on a leash, didn't shed and barked at the right people.

"We were all taken with him immediately," said Emily, who asked that her last name not be used. "He was exactly what we all needed."

Except for one thing: Blue gets a little nervous around kids. Hey, happens to the best of us. So it was back to ARF for Blue.

"He will make the perfect dog for someone without children," a chagrined Emily said. "I entertained the idea of taking my kids to ARF and keeping him! He will probably be up for adoption at ARF starting on Thursday."
