Trespasser Eludes Officers from Three Departments, a Helicopter and a Furniture Deliveryman

The Moraga police blotter for April 26-29 also includes the mystery of the missing shot glasses.

April 26

 An officer stopped a 1997 Lincoln Town Car travelling 37 mph in a 25 mph-zone on Ascto Drive at Moraga Road around 2 p.m.. The 22-year-old driver of the car was from San Jose and in possession of .57 grams of suspected hashish. The suspected hashish was photographed and booked into evidence.

April 27

Police officers from three departments, including a unit in a helicopter, failed to capture a man who ran away after a Moraga police officer spotted him hiding in bushes on Paseo Grande. Moraga police first responded to the scene when someone reported seeing a man of unknown race and age dropping from a tree on a neighbor’s property. The man evaded capture by Moraga police, Lafayette police, East Bay Regional Park police and a furniture delivery man who joined the chase. EBRP police later reported seeing a man matching the suspected trespasser’s description leaving the area in a red Ford Mustang.

Officers found two teenage boys drunk in the parking lot of the Moraga Country Club shortly before 9 p.m. One boy was released to his parents, the other boy was taken to hospital with symptoms of alcohol poisoning. Club security searched the boys’ property in the locker room of the club house and found a half empty 1.75 liter bottle of vodka.

The host of a party in a dorm room at St. Mary’s College called police to report that roughly a dozen shot glass valued at $45 were missing and that he suspected one of his guests stole the glasses.

April 28

A caller reported that a portable toilet and several trash bins had been upended at a construction site on the 1900 block of Ascot Drive.

April 29

Police are investigating the possible theft of $17,000 worth of jewelry from a residence on the 200 block of Calle La Mesa.
