Lafayette Neighbors Interrupt Morning Burglary

Officers were called to a home on Sierra Vista Way Tuesday after burglars breach the residence.

Lafayette police report that alert neighbors interrupted a residential break-in on Sierra Vista Way near the Lafayette BART station at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said three suspects, described by neighbors as Hispanic males, fled in a waiting, light blue Buick 4-door with a license plate number of 5WZT563. This vehicle matches the description of a car believed to have been used during other recent burglaries in Lafayette.

Police Chief Eric Christensen praised the actions of neighbors, who verbally accosted the burglars as they were leaving one home with property and who quickly contacted police.
