Lafayette, Moraga Police Chase Wily, Two-Legged Coyote In Canyon

The Patch Irregulars spotted Moraga and Lafayette police as they attempted to arrest a local man in Canyon on Thursday, but it appears man gave officers the slip.

Lafayette and Moraga police units attempted to stop and arrest a local man wanted on a no bail theft warrant shortly before noon Thursday but eventually gave up after the man gave them the slip in Canyon, police said.

Officers were attempting to arrest local resident, Jesse Coyote, age and exact residence unknown,  in order to serve him with a no-bail warrant issued in November. The warrant was issued for failure to appear on a misdemeanor theft charge, according to Moraga Police Chief Bob Priebe.

Coyote allegedly made a run for it. Patch readers reported seeing two Moraga police cars and a Lafayette police car running through Moraga and into Canyon at around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, additional officers from Orinda arriving to help corral him.
