Lafayette Home Damaged In Fire

Blaze broke out Tuesday evening when no one was at home

A fire damaged a home in eastern Lafayette on Wednesday night.

The blaze erupted about 7:30 p.m. inside the single story residence on Meek Place. The flames were under control within 20 minutes.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said the fire began in the front part of the house when no one was home.

Damage was limited to the front room as well as adjoining rooms. No damage estimate is available yet.

The cause is still being investigated.

No one was injured. Both occupants of the home returned while firefighters were still on the scene.
