Garage Fire on Pleasant Hill Circle

Update: Fire spread from Lafayette garage into attic and then was contained by ConFire crews.

Updated, 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, fire contained.

Firefighters put out a smoky blaze that started in the garage of a Lafayette home Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. at a one-story home in the 1100 block of Pleasant Hill Circle, near Acalanes High School. Crews arrived to find a fire in the garage that had spread to portions of the attic, said Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. The fire was controlled at 2:42 p.m.

At least one person was home when the fire broke out, and that person got outside before firefighters arrived, Broschard said. No injuries were reported. The fire appears to have been accidental, with the cause under investigation.

The Lafayette Police Department closed Pleasant Hill Circle for a time.

The garage's contents were destroyed, Broschard said.
