Hot Time At Moraga's Burger King

A worker notices flames on the roof of Moraga's Burger King restaurant Saturday. Patrons evacuate and firefighters are called.

More than a few anxious moments in Moraga Saturday afternoon after a worker at the Burger King restaurant spotted flames on the roof of the building and sounded the alarm.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District Battalion Chief Sean Perkins said nine MOFD units turned out with 26 firefighters assigned to put down the blaze, which was contained to the roof area.

The restaurant was quickly evacuated, Perkins said, and there were no reported injuries. Damage to the restaurant was set at $5,000. The cause remains under investigation.
