Giants Pitcher and Buddies Save Orinda Woman Trapped in Car

Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt and his firefighter friends helped extract a woman from an overturned car on Friday near the Orinda exit on Highway 24.

It was a save that won't go down in the record books, but one woman will likely never forget it.

Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt was driving home from Friday night's Giants game against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he saw dust on the side of the road near the Orinda exit on Highway 24.

He slowed down, rolled down his window and heard someone banging on the door to get out, he told the San Francisco Chronicle. He pulled over, and the firefighter friends riding with him leaped out and began a rescue operation.

One firefighter began to calm the panicked woman down, while the others tugged on the door until it opened. She was a little banged up, but had no life-threatening injuries.

It was another great save from Affeldt, who knows all about them.
