Later Wednesday morning, Moraga Road traffic flow was restored after a hazardous material cleanup of gas spilled from a gas tank after an auto accident around 9:15 a.m. near School Street.
The spill threatened to have gas flow into a storm drain, Lafayette Police Chief Eric Christensen said. Emergency crews were on the scene protecting the storm drain and digging muck out of it.
School officials said there was no effect on nearby Lafayette Elementary School.
Police alerts went out around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Northbound Moraga Road was backed up back to Moraga.
