Get Ready Lafayette!
The Great California Shakeout is a statewide drill in which schools, businesses and non-profits participate in preparing for what to do in the event of an earthquake.
And they could drive to the Super Dome. After the next big Quake here at the Hayward Fault all roads and access to Lamorinda will be crashed, crushed and undrivable. Tunnel will collapse, the 680/24 interchange will fall down and San Pablo Dam Road will be gone!!! The only way in or out of Lamorinda will be Pleasant Hill Road and Olympic Blvd. All Emergency services will be directed to the large urban areas and the large government buildings and civic centers. We have none of that here. If after 6pm we will have only two of Laf. PD on duty. All other emergency services will be cut off. YOYO. You're On Your Own!!!!!!! Got 30 days of water? Got 20 days of food, dog food, meds., gas for generator, booze and wine? Got med. first aid kit? Could you sew, stitch a wound of your child's to close a bleeding arm? Could you set a broken leg? Could you pull a large piece of glass from the arm of your wife? Could you rescue a loved one from under a building? Could you bury a loved one? No one will be coming here to help. They will be busy elsewhere.
Remember- Five (5) days to water to the Super Dome. No airports, no helicopters (all in Middle East fighting a war or two, including spare parts and mechanics and pilots) no medical help, two cops, no open ports, no highways, no bridges. Only your neighbors and you. Get to know your neighbors, stock your home. Take care of your self, your family, and your community.
Do I have to rescue a loved one from under a building if I planned ahead of time and heavily insured them? I can't pull a piece of glass from my wife's arm, but I can put her in a binder. Does that count? Wouldn't it be easier just to chop off a broken leg? Setting it sounds so complicated and time consuming. If I don't have a dog do I still need the 20 day supply of dog food? If my child has a bleeding arm do you think OSI could rebuild him? Do they have the technology? Better, stronger, faster? I have an 80 day supply of booze. How else can one relax if their kid has a bleeding arm, their wife has a piece of glass in her arm, a loved one is under a building, and another loved one needs burying. I live in Lamorinda. I don't drink water. I drink Perrier. And that I have a 30 day supply of.
There are no helicopters? Yep, yep, yeppers. Those Middle East wars weren't going on when Katrina hit, right?
