Danville Realtor Gets 18 Years for Child Molestation

Man, 66, sentenced today in Martinez court.

A Danville real estate agent will spend 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.

Ronald Schwartz, 66, was sentenced in a Martinez courtroom this morning days after pleading guilty to six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

A judge also issued a 10-year order to stay away from the victim and ordered the defendant to pay restitution and to register as a sex offender.

Schwartz, a Brentwood resident, was arrested in the summer of 2012 after calling a suicide hotline and confessing to sexually abusing a young relative, according to Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Chad Mahalich.

He has been in custody since that time.

The court heard today from members of the victim's family, including the victim's mother. Mahalich said Schwartz previously abused two other young girls, but was not charged in connection with those cases.
