County Fire Battles One Alarm Fire On Quail Ridge Road In Lafayette

Firefighters have been dispatched to the 3900 block of Quail Ridge Road in Lafayette in response to reports of a vegetation fire threatening structures there.

Contra Costa County Fire District crews answered a one-alarm call in the 3900 block of Quail Ridge Road in Lafayette Tuesday after neighbors reported a shed on fire there.

The blaze was reported at around 4:30 p.m. and caused a few anxious moments for neighbors, one of whom told Patch the fire had engulfed a home in the area of 3966 Quail Ridge Road.

County fire crews on the scene discovered that the "house" was a shed, and mobilized to put down the 1/2-acre blaze, pushed by moderate vegetation and  moderate winds.

Several units are on the scene. We'll have more if the situation changes.

Thank you Patch; I just came on-line to check if you had any news on this...there are numerous sirens and a helicopter hovering in our neighborhood, and I am concerned about what might be going on. This certainly puts the relatively minor inconvenience of having mailboxes up and down the street smashed into pieces last night into perspective.

Ha! Not to worry, Claire... the fire crews are being super careful with our dry conditions and winds but there seem to be more than enough folks up there and things look good. Except for the person who lost that shed!
