Clayton Man Arrested for Orinda Pharmacy Theft, Others; Second Man Sought

Police investigating a series of thefts from pharmacies in Orinda and elsewhere find and arrest a Clayton man in connection with the crimes.

One of two men believed responsible for a string of thefts from area pharmacies is in custody in Martinez Monday after he was stopped and arrested in Clayton last week.

Taylor Hughes, 19, of Clayton was arrested and booked on multiple counts of burglary after he was stopped by Clayton police Thursday. Investigators said Hughes and an accomplice took drugs from pharmacies in Orinda, Concord, Clayton, and Pleasant Hill - working in tandem with one man distracting store staff while the other jumped behind the counter to steal drugs.

Leads developed by Concord police after a robbery in their city led investigators to Hughes and a search warrant served at his residence allegedly uncovered evidence linking him to the crimes, police said. He was booked at the Main Detention Facility in Martinez.
