Bus, Truck Collide On St. Mary's Road In Moraga

Police say black ice on the road may have caused the accident

A truck and a County Connection bus collided Friday morning along St. Mary's Road.

Moraga Police Sgt. Brian South said the accident happened about 7:20 a.m. near the intersection of St. Mary's Road and Stafford Drive between St. Mary's College and Moraga Commons Park.

South said the truck was traveling eastbound on St. Mary's Road when it lost control. The CCCTA bus was traveling westbound.

The driver tried to avoid the collision, but the truck still struck it on the front corner on the driver's side.

There were two passengers on the bus at the time, but they were not injured, according to Mary Burdick of the CCCTA.

Two people were taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons, South said. Neither injury was considered serious.

South added it appears black ice on the road may have caused the truck to lose control.

South said there was another collision on the bridge on Canyon Road near Pinehurst Road on Friday morning. Black ice appears to have been a contributing factor there, too.

South said police are urging drivers to be cautious on the roads in the early morning and evening hours because of the presence of black ice.

South said there may travel delays Friday morning as the vehicles in both accidents are removed.
