Armed Trio Hit Lafayette 7-Eleven, Move on to Walnut Creek

Police in Lafayette and Walnut Creek are looking for information on two overnight armed robberies.

Police say three men who robbed a Boulevard Way 7-Eleven store in Walnut Creek shortly before midnight Monday also robbed the 7-Eleven on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette.

In the Lafayette robbery, the armed suspects entered the store at 11:13 p.m. and demanded money, fleeing on foot with a small amount of cash.  A short time later a night clerk at the 7-Eleven on Boulevard Way in Walnut Creek frightened off a gunman, one of three robbers who reportedly came into the store late Monday night, by threatening to toss a plastic doughnut delivery tray at him.

Clerk Tony Sharma said that his fellow employee saw the men come into the store, and that one had a gun. The clerk immediately picked up a doughnut delivery tray, which is about 2 1/2 feet long, and held it over his head as if to throw it. The robbers ran out, Sharma said.
