Accused Molester Remains At Large

Police are looking for baseball coach Joel Kaufman of Orinda, who has a warrant out for his arrest.

Joel Kaufman, the Orinda resident accused of multiple counts of molesting two teenage boys, remained at large Thursday morning.

Jimmy Lee, a spokesman for the Orinda Police Department, wrote in an email at 9 a.m. Thursday that Kaufman — who has a warrant issued for his arrest out of Contra Costa County — remained at large.

Kaufman is the head coach of the California Smoke, a traveling baseball club for high school-age boys based in San Jose. He also is the owner of Triple Play U.S.A., a batting cage facility in San Leandro, the Contra Costa Times reported.

If anyone has information on the case, they are asked to call Orinda Police Department at (925) 254-6820.
