Lamorinda Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda who passed away recently

Blanche Horn, a resident of Lafayette, was a native of Long Island, New York, who moved with family to San Francisco in 1914. She was student body president of Girls High School in San Francisco and graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1933. She worked for Del Monte Foods before marrying in 1940. She and her husband formed Horn & Co. Insurance. Horn passed away on July 31 at the age of 100.

Ursula Gohler, 
a resident of Orinda, was born in Germany and moved to California as an au pair in 1968. She and her husband moved to Orinda in 1980. She loved gardening and reading. Gohler passed away on July 22.

James Daniel Gess, a resident of San Ramon, was born in Berkeley and attended school in Moraga, graduating from Campolindo High School in 1985. He earned an audio engineering degree from San Francisco State University and worked as an audio visual technician. He worked for five years for the Zazu Pitts Memorial Orchestra. He also played the harmonica and guitar. Gess passed away on July 31 at the age of 46.
