Lamorinda Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda who have passed away recently

Jeffrey Alan Garcia, a resident of Lafayette, was born in Redwood City. He earned a degree in civil engineering from San Jose State University. He worked for 24 years in civil design, including 17 years at BART. Garcia died on Dec. 1 at the age of 48.

Joe Hipple, 
a resident of Livermore, lived in Lafayette for 30 years. He was born in Illinois and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Arizona. He moved to Lafayette soon after he was married in the early 1950s. Hipple taught chemistry at Pleasant Hill High School, retiring in 1983. He moved to Nevada City after that. Hipple died on Dec. 1 at the age of 89.

Janet Low, a resident of Martinez, was a former resident of Lafayette. Low was born in Hilo, Hawaii, and moved to San Francisco after graduating from high school. She worked for 20 years for California Dental Service. She also worked in sales and marketing for health care benefits. Low and her family moved to Lafayette in 1979. She was one of the "regulars" at the Lafayette Health Club. Low died on Nov. 20 at the age of 71.
