Lamorinda Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda who have passed away recently

Kai Matsuoka, a resident of Lafayette, was born in Sacramento. He and his family spent World War II in the Tule Lake Japanese internment camp. After the war, Matsuoka became a lawyer. Later on, he moved to the Bay Area and was successful in the import business. His passions were history and law. Matsuoka died on Dec. 5 at the age of 94.

Pete Riesberg, a former Orinda resident, was born in Yuba City. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in industrial engineering.  He earned his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. Riesberg lived in the Orinda in the late 1970s before moving to Alamo. He worked as a civil engineer for General Electric and American Racing. He was also a partner with Creative Systems and founded Advantage Computer Systems Corporation. Riesberg was an expert kayaker, trying out for the 1972 U.S. Olympic team. He also played the piano, guitar and saxophone. Riesberg died on Dec. 18 at the age of 74.
