Lamorinda Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda who have passed away recently

Edwin James Gallagher Sr., a resident of Lafayette, was born in Oakland, the youngest of 11 children. He served in the U.S. Marine  Corps during World War II. After the war, he worked for Gallagher & Burk Inc., an Oakland-based paving and grading firm. Gallagher died on Jan. 7 at the age of 93.

Paul T. Hansen, a former resident of Lafayette, was born in Denmark. He and his family came to the United States in 1926. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Hansen and his wife built their family home in Lafayette in 1950. They raised three children there. He and his wife moved to the Auburn area after their children were grown. He was an original investor in the Oakland Raiders. Hansen died on Jan. 10 at the age of 92.

Patricia Smith Renworth, a resident of Moraga, was born in Eureka, California. She worked as an engineer for the state highway department and, after her children were grown, as a teacher in the Walnut Creek School District and Cucamonga School District in Southern California. She was named teacher of the year in both districts. She and her husband moved to Moraga in 1988 after their retirement. She was president of the Miramonte Gardens Homeowners Association. Renworth died on Jan. 9 at the age of 88.
