A list of some of the people with ties to Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda who passed away recently

Marlene Virginia Johnson: A resident of Lafayette, Johnson was a long-time executive for the Bank of America. She was member of the Lafayette Langeac Society as well as the Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Johnson passed away on June 27 at the age of 81.

Dan Brunicardi: A resident of Lafayette, Brunicardi was a friendly, dedicated neighbor who earned the nickname "The Mayor of Lafayette." He also loved his family and his dogs. Brunicardi passed away on June 23 at the age of 68.

Carole C. Chaiken: A resident of Lafayette, Chaiken earned a psychology degree from UCLA and worked as a juvenile probation officer before moving to the Bay Area with her husband. They built a home in the Lafayette hills in 1982. She was the owner and breeder of thoroughbred race horses and was an avid collector of three-dimensional art. During her life, she traveled to all seven continents. Chaiken passed away on July 1 at the age of 74.

Scott Smith: A resident of Walnut Creek, Smith was born in Orinda and graduated from Miramonte High School. He worked in the telecommunications industry. He loved music, fishing and bicycle riding. Smith passed away on June 24 at the age of 48.
